Russell is an experienced consultant with wide ranging experience of managing and developing both public and third sector organisations. He has established a number of local Regeneration Companies, led partnership work covering growth and regeneration agendas and served as Chief Executive to a private/public regeneration partnership. Russell has strong programme and project management experience, including leading pan-UK research, public and business consultations, evaluations and projects involving cultural and heritage assets as well as business services. Russell has also led a number of sensitive community and environmental projects including development options and business planning proposals for the ‘Sir Peter Scott’ lighthouse within The Wash national nature reserve.
A chartered Town Planner, Steve sees planning as a process of creative problem-solving - at all levels. He has amassed a wide-range of experience, working for both private and public sector clients, in the UK and internationally. His areas of particular interest and expertise include: masterplanning; planning strategy and policy development; regeneration; urban design; innovative sustainable development; and, community participation and consultation. Steve is an experienced expert witness, presenting evidence at appeal inquiries and hearings, and all levels of development plan inquiry. He has considerable experience in presenting development proposals and pursuing planning applications for residential, retail, commercial / business and mixed-use developments. On the international scene, Steve’s work has ranged from masterplanning a new town to producing national urban design and planning guidance. Before entering consultancy, Steve managed a UK local authority’s development plan and policy department for several years.
Phil’s experience encompasses a substantial breadth of planning projects for private and public sector clients. His particular strengths include presentation and pursuit of development proposals through planning applications and appeals, with an impressively successful track record. Phil is a keen negotiator who strives towards achieving effective agreement between interested parties. As a chartered Town Planner and an experienced expert witness, Phil frequently presents evidence at appeal inquiries and hearings. His areas of expertise include housing, recreation, leisure and hospitality, regeneration and community engagement. Private sector clients include house builders, commercial, hotel and other leisure developers along with holders of strategic development sites. In the public sector Phil has also successfully represented providers of social housing, schools and colleges and a range of healthcare facilities. Phil’s background experience includes managing local authority policy and development control functions and a number of reclamation programmes.
Andy is a Chartered Town Planner with extensive planning experience, primarily in the sphere of development management. Projects have included residential, industrial, commercial, retail, leisure and mixed-use schemes, ranging from small scale developments to high-profile strategic proposals for urban extensions, new villages and heritage led regeneration schemes. Andy is an advocate of a problem solving approach to the obstacles and challenges thrown up by the planning process. He also has experience in appearing as an expert witness at public inquiries and in the High Court.
A chartered Town Planner with a background in planning, regeneration and urban design, Lynette has experience working with local authorities, universities, housing developers and community groups. Her skills include urban design, formulation of planning policy and community consultation. Lynette has undertaken planning policy assessments for spatial strategies and Masterplans, and worked in urban, coastal and heritage areas. She also provides a range of support and advice to private sector clients.
A graduate in both Geography and Planning, James has a wide skill set, with experience in a range of development proposals, masterplanning projects, planning appeals and community development projects in both the UK and abroad. Recent experience on behalf of local authorities includes preparing Development Plan Documents and Supplementary Planning Documents and undertaking sustainability appraisals. James specialises also in urban extensions, working closely with client and local authority teams to ensure that wider sustainability issues are considered from the outset. With experience and expertise in the planning aspects of flood risk, James frequently prepares and presents “sequential test” information to support planning applications and appeals.
With degrees in Geography and Planning, and currently working towards achieving her chartered membership of the RTPI, Laura has experience of preparing and co-ordinating a broad range of planning applications and appeals. Her work has involved the preparation of transportation documents including Transport Statements and Green Travel Plans. Laura is also experienced in the appraisal of land for development opportunities and the promotion of sites through the Local Development Framework. Laura’s involvement in international work is focussing particularly on China and Asia and has undertaken research into the sustainability of new town development in Shanghai.
A business studies graduate, Elizabeth undertakes research, data analysis, quality assurance and project management across a range of assignments. For major and long term surveys, she manages the telephone interview team, ensures quality assurance and provides training in data processing.
PRINCE2 Practitioner Elizabeth has managed and delivered a range of research, data assembly and assessment roles, including for employment land reviews, community development initiatives and learning and skills projects.
An urban design masters graduate with a background in product , web and graphic design, Adam provides a creative input on a range of projects for private, public and voluntary sector clients both within the UK and overseas. His area of particular interest is urban design with a strong focus on innovation in masterplanning and placeshaping. Adam’s work is also heavily focused on preparing presentation material for planning statements, public consultations and marketing documents as well as managing our web based initiative - Globe Online which helps clients establish an effective web presence to support their development goals.
Research Team
Globe has an experienced research team which coupled with our investment in ICT provides a highly flexible resource capable of delivering both long term, large scale and time critical research such as that undertaken for the LSC between 2007-10 and responding effectively to the shorter term needs of clients ranging from one off commissions to discrete research elements within wider projects. The team has undertaken a range of qualitative and quantitative research involving telephone interviews, e-surveys, postal surveys and depth interviews. Our work has regularly covered the whole of the UK and 2009 saw Globe conduct more than 11,000 interviews across a range of projects involving, training providers, exporters, social enterprises, SME’s, local authorities and local and national stakeholders/interest groups.
Globe has well established procedures for handing public sector data and has secured the highest quality support for both our computer and telecommunication systems, using a Microsoft Gold Partner and a Mitel Premier Partner respectively. For those of you with a technical interest we have a Raid 5 storage structure and Symantec Endpoint protection as a minimum. We also have secure remote web working in place and VOIP tunnelling when required. As well as offering security and flexibility these systems also allow us to offer our clients selective file and data access if required. Similar controls exist with our on-line licensed software allowing the team to respond very quickly to a client’s needs and where appropriate allow real-time monitoring of responses or progress.
